2nd Assistant Golf Course Superintendent
Golf Course in Pepper Pike, Ohio is looking for a 2nd Assistant Golf Course Superintendent.
Position Overview:
This person will bring a strong work ethic, accountability, and professionalism to the team. Country has a reputation for developing their assistants that lead them to being promoted within the industry and engaging them in numerous professional development opportunities. The position will help lead the maintenance and upkeep of our classic William Flynn design that boasts two of the Top 100 holes in the country.
Job Overview:
• Lead the team in all daily golf course maintenance tasks designed to create championship playing conditions for our members and guests.
• Facilitate and assist with any capital improvements on the golf course or around the clubhouse.
• Assist in planning, scheduling, and supervision of the staff.
• Assist in making plant protectant and fertilizer applications including record keeping and equipment upkeep.
• Assist in irrigations system repairs and water management decisions.
• Contribute to the daily maintenance of the golf course, including but not limited to; mowing, course set up, drainage, equipment repair, hand watering, tree maintenance, snow removal, and any duties in the maintenance operation.
• Manage the inventory of plant protection products and fertilizers.
• Assist in the training and orientation of new employees in all aspects of golf course maintenance.
• Assist in integrated pest management and course scouting.
• Daily communication with the superintendent regarding course conditions, event planning, and all club activities.
Requirements:
Associates or bachelor’s degree in turfgrass management or related field.
3+ years of progressive golf course maintenance experience.
Demonstrated strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Embraces daily use of technology and ability to evolve with modern practices.
Upbeat and competitive attitude with the desire to be the best.
Technical skills in golf course maintenance including: plant protectant applications, irrigation systems, equipment operation and maintenance, soil science, and water management.
Leadership skills including: team management, project experience, departmental and inter-departmental communication, scheduling and workflow management, and member relations.
Professional goal of becoming a golf course superintendent.
Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, adaptability, commitment, physical stamina, and continuous professional development.
Drive, determination, and self-disciplined approach to achieving high-quality, consistent results.
Passionate about the industry and game of golf.
Works well with team members in a professional, detail-oriented environment with a focus on developing technical expertise, communication, and leadership skills.
Genuinely wants to do right, open to being taught and learn new competencies.
Demonstrates a sense of urgency and assures consistent achievement of quality standards.
Capable of working in all-weather work environments, lifting a minimum of 25 pounds, consistent walking, twisting, and bending.

Compensation:
$55,000 – $65,000 per year.
