DriveWhip is a mobility provider in the Washington, DC area, with offices in multiple cities, including Atlanta, that Leases/Rents vehicles to Uber, Lyft and other On-Demand or Rideshare drivers. As a ground floor member of an exciting new company all associates will be tasked with a variety of responsibilities. An appreciation for the pros and cons of start up culture is a must.

Position Summary The Senior Liability & Litigation Claims Specialist manages the most complex and high-exposure liability and bodily injury claims, particularly those involving litigation or significant financial and legal risk. This role requires advanced claims handling expertise, direct coordination with outside counsel, and strong judgment in evaluating liability, damages, and settlement strategy. The specialist serves as a subject matter expert on litigation files, ensuring timely compliance, accurate reserving, and effective resolution strategies that protect the company’s financial and legal interests.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to the following)
: - Investigate and evaluate complex liability and BI claims with significant exposure.
- Confirm coverage under Whip’s membership agreements, Protection Plan, TNC policies, and applicable state statutes.
- Establish, monitor, and adjust reserves accurately in high-severity cases.
- Manage claims through all phases of litigation, including discovery, depositions, mediations, and trial preparation.
- Collaborate directly with outside counsel, providing direction, strategy input, and oversight to ensure cost-effective and results-driven representation.
- Review and approve litigation budgets, invoices, and legal strategies to ensure alignment with company objectives.
- Evaluate and respond to complex bodily injury demands and settlement opportunities.
- Ensure timely escalation and compliance with statutory and contractual deadlines.
- Act as a liaison between outside counsel, internal leadership, and key stakeholders.
- Identify trends in litigation and recommend process or policy improvements.
- Maintain thorough and up-to-date claim documentation, including litigation strategy notes and settlement rationales.
- Must be able to manage a caseload of approximately 25–50 high-exposure and litigated claims, along with additional complex liability and BI files as needed to support overall team workload.
Education And Experience - Bachelor’s degree required
- 5–7+ years handling complex liability and bodily injury claims, including litigation management.
- Direct experience working with outside counsel on auto liability litigation.
- Strong knowledge of TNC coverages (Uber, Lyft) and state-specific liability statutes (VA, MD, GA, FL, IL, PA).
Skills And Abilities - Advanced analytical and negotiation skills.
- Strong litigation management experience, including oversight of counsel strategy and spend.
- Ability to evaluate complex medical and legal documentation.
- Excellent communication skills with counsel, executives, and external parties.
- High attention to deadlines, compliance standards, and financial accuracy.
- Proficiency with claims systems and collaboration tools (Google Suite, Slack, Zendesk, Textline).
Salary $65,000 - $75,000
Work Environment Typical work environment includes desktop computing work using typical desktop computing equipment (laptop, keyboard, mouse, monitors, desk, chair) in an office environment and/or remote workspace environment.
Physical Demands - Ability to sit and use typical desktop computing workspace equipment - e.g. mouse, keyboard, monitor, phone - for extended periods of time.
- Manual dexterity to operate a typical desktop computing workstation.
- Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing, using virtual meeting and communication tools such as email, Google Meet, and Slack.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 15 pounds, if required.
