Job Description

The company is seeking a highly motivated Senior Traffic Engineer to lead our traffic engineering practice across South Carolina. This leadership role combines technical expertise, project management, and business development. The ideal candidate will manage and mentor staff, oversee traffic engineering projects, and actively grow client relationships while contributing to strategic business initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the South Carolina traffic engineering practice and coordinate strategic growth plans with office managers and practice leaders.
  • Develop and expand the company's market presence through business development and marketing efforts.
  • Manage regional budgets, allocate resources, and ensure project profitability.
  • Oversee the planning, design, and execution of traffic engineering projects including:
    • Traffic signal plans
    • Signing and pavement marking plans
    • Crash analysis and traffic studies
    • Traffic planning and maintenance of traffic (MOT) plans
    • Roadway lighting and traffic simulations
  • Serve as a technical expert and mentor for project managers and engineering staff.
  • Conduct staff hiring, interviews, and performance evaluations.
  • Prepare and contribute to proposals, client presentations, and technical reports.
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, consultants, government agencies, and project stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10 years of traffic engineering experience, including design, planning, and analysis.
  • BSCE from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in South Carolina .
  • Familiarity with SCDOT policies, publications, and practices .
  • Experience working directly with SCDOT .
  • Proficiency in traffic analysis and simulation software and MS Office.
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) .
  • Experience in business development and client relationship management.
